After working through community college as a Union Laborer in the early 90s, Brent enrolled in and achieved a bachelor’s degree in Loss Control Management from Central Washington University in Ellensburg Washington which included an internship with General Construction, a large marine construction company. Following a one-year contract with a municipality, Brent accepted a position in 1996 with Safety and Supply Company as a safety focal that lasted for 16 years. This career move opened the doors to continued learning and new opportunities including the formation of Intuitive Safety Solutions in 2007 which Brent has led ever since.
Throughout his career, Brent has chaired many industry groups and received numerous awards for his contributions. Some of these include board positions with the American Society of Safety Professionals, both National and the Puget Sound Chapter, President of the Seattle and Vicinity Construction Safety Council (SVCSC), SVCSC Construction Safety Person of the year in 2005, facilitator of the Puget Sound Area Safety Summit from 2001-2007, the 2021 ASSP Consultant Practice Specialty SPY Award winner, as well as committee positions on many national committees with trade associations such as the Puget Sound Area Safety Summit, ABC, AGC of Washington, and the American Clean Power Association. Brent’s ultimate career accomplishment was the achievement of board certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) in August 2010.
Brent is a subject matter expert in construction safety and health, working at heights and rescue, confined space entry and rescue operations, respiratory protection, personal protection equipment (PPE) and its elements, safety leadership, culture change, and training. Brent continues to lead Intuitive Safety Solutions as one of the largest safety consulting services firms in the construction sector in the United States. Brent is a life learner and is committed to driving the safety value message to all.
