Presentation Description: Because the industry continues to develop new battery configurations and codes continue to grow and change, this presentation will draw from recent testing and fire and mitigation systems, including further updates on the explosion hazard. Where are we now? Including real-life experiences and research information supported by the events such as McMicken, the UK Carnegie Road Event, Tesla’s successful failures, etc. This presentation will address specific changes to code requirements from the NFPA 855 2020 edition that impacts our industry. The advancements in battery storage technology openly address Explosion risks with Lithium-Ion batteries. It will also outline current approaches to managing large-scale battery failures and Explosions. And What’s Next, and where do we go from here?
